In the summer, you’re likely to get lot of strange looks if you’re spotted walking around head to toe in black and wearing a deep berry lip but in the winter, it becomes acceptable; no one really bats an eyelid. The same can be said reversing the roles and bracing -4 degrees weather in a pink floral skater dress. However, it seems that pink will become an important colour during A/W fashion this year, as seen on catwalks back in February, the trend is sure to take on and filter down through the high street and fall into our own wardrobes and shopping bags.
“I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls.” – Audrey Hepburn
But where to start? Although innocent looking, pink may often seems like a daunting colour to wear; it can be seen as sickly if done too much and can making us feel somewhat nostalgic. Despite this, no colour brings classic elegance and femininity into a look quite like pink can and it doesn’t need to be overdone – you don’t need to turn into a marshmallow in order to explore the trend – it can be simply done by introducing hues of pink through accessories or pairing and laying with other colours.
1. Wrap coat
A clean cut, structured coat makes for a tailored look and looks great over anything – the pink creates a soft, feminine look which contrasts against the bold collar of the wrap around coat. This coat would make any outfit look sophisticated.
Pink doesn’t have isn’t all about pretty lace playsuits or dresses, if you’re not feeling the very girly touch the colour will bring to your look, especially in the winter, you can explore the trend through accessories!
These bags are a subtle way of exploring the trend for A/W. (faux) Fur was featured in couture season back in July – with Karl Lagerfeld devoting the entire Fendi collection to it, as well as fur accessories making an appearance in the Ulyana Sergeenko show.
